Everton are keen on signing a right-back in the January transfer window and have been linked with Guela Doue.

David Moyes has told the Everton board about what he is looking for in the coming weeks in order to give the club the best chance to finish in the European places.

Aznou has also been linked with an exit and his departure would leave the Toffees shy of a full-back for the rest of the season.

Everton track new right-backs as Guela Doue update emerges

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Toffees are working behind-the-scenes to rope in a new right-back in January.

They are tracking numerous options in that area and will eventually narrow down on their desired targets as the window progresses.

However, despite links to Strasbourg’s Doue, he is not understood to be among the options considered at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Moyes wants his full-backs to be quick and direct as he expects them to be auxiliary wingers who could be a creative outlet in the final third.

Everton thought they were signing a player who checked those boxes in Nathan Patterson, but the Scotland international’s move from Rangers has not panned out as many would have expected.

How much will Guela Doue cost Everton?

Doue was valued at £26million a few months ago and given how he’s fared this season, the French club are expected to demand something similar.

At 23, he has his best years ahead of him, so that would certainly factor into Strasbourg’s thinking.

Not only has he been a regular for them since joining in 2024, but he is also a full Ivory Coast international, and shows maturity with and without the ball.

While he is not being actively considered by Everton, interest could surface in a few weeks or a few months, as right-back is a position that they want to strengthen and will only bring in the right player.

It remains to be seen if there are other clubs entering the race for his services in the coming weeks as he would fit the bill for quite a few sides in Europe’s top five leagues.
