Jarrad Branthwaite has impressed this term for the Toffees, forging a strong partnership at the back with James Tarkowski.

The star has been a pretty consistent performer at the back for Everton, thriving under both Sean Dyche and David Moyes.

And Branthwaite’s performances have led to interest from Real Madrid, with Carlo Ancelotti plotting a raid on his former club.

Everton are determined to keep Branthwaite amid Real Madrid’s interest, but fans are still worried that the Spanish giants could come calling with a big offer.

But there is one ongoing situation on the red side of Merseyside right now that may actually help Everton out here over Branthwaite.

Real Madrid now want Ibrahima Konate as Everton seek to keep Jarrad Branthwaite

According to Le Parisien, Real Madrid are now showing an interest in Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate.

This is potentially significant for Everton with Real having also shortlisted Branthwaite.

Konate actually has an extension offer on the table from Liverpool, as his current deal expires in the summer of 2026.

But if Konate does not end up signing a new deal with Liverpool, there is a real possibility he could end up transferring to Real Madrid. The Reds likely won’t want him entering into the final year of his contract at Anfield.

Le Parisien do say that Konate is expected to make a decision at the end of the season.

Branthwaite may yet sign new Everton contract

In an ideal world, Konate will sign for Real Madrid this summer, which would surely reduce the chances of Branthwaite leaving for the Bernabeu greatly.

That said, there are still other clubs out there who are big fans of the defender, such as Manchester United.

But sources informed Everton News recently that Branthwaite is open to signing a new contract with Everton.

That really would be an excellent outcome were it to happen fairly soon.

But if Branthwaite heads into the summer and no new deal has been signed, then fans will have to expect a lot of speculation.
