Everton are still looking to sign a new right-back, and Brooke Norton-Cuffy is back on the club’s radar.

David Moyes and a portion of the squad are currently up in Scotland for the start of pre-season, but Toffees officials are back at Finch Farm, working to add new players to the squad.

So far, three deals have been completed.

Hayden Hackney arrived from Middlesbrough, with Tyrique George and Merlin Rohl turning their moves permanent.

But fans are now clamouring to see the arrival of a new right-back.

Brooke Norton-Cuffy has come back into the picture after being linked in January – and Everton may well stand a very good chance for one particular reason.

Norton-Cuffy is valued at £17 million, making him an appealing prospect.

Currently, the market has some very expensive options which could make things tricky for Everton.

The likes of Djed Spence, Guela Doue and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have all featured at this summer’s World Cup and will not go cheap.

But Norton-Cuffy represents a more budget-friendly option – and Everton have a potential trump card to play in any race.

At the moment, Everton currently have three players on their books who have played with Norton-Cuffy at international level.

Indeed, George, Tyler Dibling and new signing Hackney have all shared the dressing room with Norton-Cuffy with the England U21s.

These existing connections are bound to give Everton a reasonable chance to sign the 22-year-old.

But the Toffees might want to act quickly, because a number of other clubs are looking at him given his valuation.

It is paramount that Everton don’t go too many more days or weeks without signing anyone for the right-back position.

It’s such an important position, and Moyes now has the players back for pre-season. So the new signing that is coming in is already missing crucial preparation time.

Norton-Cuffy would be a solid signing, having really flourished over in Italy in recent times. And that £17 million valuation would then give Everton in deals for other players.
