Everton fans will be delighted to hear Jarrad Branthwaite has finally inked a new contract.

Fans have been made to wait on new signings, but this is the news all Everton supporters will have been waiting for.

Branthwaite has extended his Everton stay until 2030, with a five-year deal which is set to reward him for his hard work over recent years.

James Tarkowski has proven to be a sensational purchase for the Blues, but it is apparent Branthwaite is who they view as their long-term option.

The 23-year-old has shown his quality and Branthwaite’s admitted he wants to captain Everton in the future.

With a new bumper deal now inked, Everton News’ transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey has shared an insight on the finer details of the deal.

Jarrad Branthwaite set for huge Everton pay rise

Branthwaite has been impressed by Everton’s ambition shown since the takeover and appointment of David Moyes last season.

A new dawn is being promised this summer on Merseyside, as the Friedkins can finally get their teeth sunk into the transfer window.

Speaking to Everton News, Bailey has suggested the American owners have put their money where their mouth is to keep one of their top players at the club.

“Everton have been confident that Branthwaite would sign his new deal for a number of months,” he said.

“I am told that the player at no point pushed to leave, even when Manchester United made a bid last summer, and given the links to clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool in recent months.

“That is one reason Everton have rewarded him, the way he has handled himself around the speculation – he has carried on and matured into one of the top young defenders in Europe.

“The club’s owners, the Friedkins, were clear from when they took over that they wanted Branthwaite on a new deal, and that has now been achieved.

“He has now more than trebled his wages, which does sound a lot but let’s remember this is the first deal he has signed since he became a full England international.”

Now it is time for Branthwaite to prove Thomas Tuchel wrong after being snubbed in his opening England call-up earlier this year.

Everton still need more defensive answers

Injuries aside, Everton’s starting centre-back pairing is now set for the 2025/26 campaign with Branthwaite and Tarkowski.

Jake O’Brien really impressed under Moyes last season and has shown his ability to play at right-back, too.

However, Everton still need another option at their disposal, with Keane having recently seen his contract expire.

Everton are discussing a new deal with Keane, but the veteran defender could still opt to test out the market as a free agent.

The contract news for Branthwaite is a huge positive but the club now need to build on that.
