It’s been a tricky start to the season for Sean Dyche and Everton.

The Toffees have only won two of their opening 10 league games and are 16th in the table, four points clear of the bottom three.

Saturday’s defeat against fellow strugglers Southampton left several Everton fans concerned about Dyche, who has had more than enough time to stamp his mark on the squad.

Next weekend’s trip to West Ham United will be the Everton boss’ 75th game in charge of the club.

At the time of writing, his win percentage is 33.8% – the 17th lowest in comparison to the other 24 permanent managers in history. But how does it compare to the likes of Carlo Ancelotti and David Moyes?

We’re here to analyse Dyche’s win percentage against five other managers in Everton’s history.

Frank Lampard is officially the second-worst manager in Everton’s history based on win percentages.

His arrival in January 2022 did spark a brief upturn in form that eventually saw him secure the club’s Premier League status but failed to kick on from there.

Results declined in his first full season in charge and despite working with limited funds, was unable to inspire the Toffees and turn results around before being sacked eight days before his one-year anniversary in charge.

Rafael Benitez – 31.8%

After being handed the task of replacing Ancelotti, who left to rejoin Real Madrid, Rafael Benitez will probably not look back on his time at Everton fondly.

An appointment that was never going to work due to his previous affiliation with the red half of Merseyside, the Spaniard started his tenure brightly and won three of his first four games in charge.

That quickly turned sour however and he was sacked after six-and-a-half months in charge.

Benitez has always admitted to wanting to become Everton manager but with fan outrage at an all-time high, it was another mark against Farhad Moshiri.

Ronald Koeman – 41.4%

Following his excellent work at Southampton, Ronald Koeman arrived at Goodison Park armed with a war chest to help take the club to the next level.

Koeman guided Everton to Europa League qualification but after spending £150m in the 2017 summer window, results failed to match and he was eventually sacked with the Toffees sitting in the relegation zone.

After his sacking, the Dutchman believed that the failure to sign Olivier Giroud from Arsenal contributed to his inevitable dismissal.

David Moyes – 42.1%

One of Everton’s best managers in recent history, Moyes is an iconic figure at the club.

His 11-year spell saw the Toffees regularly challenge at the top end of the Premier League, as well as feature in several European campaigns.

Moyes would ultimately depart for Manchester United, something he admitted to regretting, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find an Evertonian who has a bad word to say about Moyes.

Carlo Ancelotti – 46.3%

Ancelotti’s time at Goodison Park may have been short but sweet, but he is still regarded as one of the club’s best managers. Both statistically and from the opinion of supporters.

The likes of James Rodriguez and Allan were all brought to the club and under the Italian’s guise, Everton even looked like they could finish in the top four.

He also masterminded a first win at Anfield in the Merseyside derby since 1999 and a first win against Liverpool anywhere since 2010.

A return to Real Madrid would come in 2021 but the serial winner is still popular for the work he did in difficult circumstances.
