Kalvin Phillips has spoken out about rumours regarding his future at Manchester City.

Speaking to Channel 4, as per Fabrizio Romano, the midfielder admitted that he wants to be playing and suggested that he would consider a move away.

Phillips joined Man City in a £45 million deal last summer, however injury problems meant his appearances were limited in the early stages of his time at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola then claimed he had returned from the World Cup overweight and has now managed only 15 appearances in the Premier League since making the switch.

With the Euro 2024 tournament in mind, the midfielder has recently been linked with a loan exit from the treble winners, with Everton one club that are thought to be interested.

The Toffees are reportedly joined by the likes of Tottenham and Newcastle United in their pursuit of Phillips, while Fabrizio Romano previously claimed that the England international would make a decision over his future in the coming months.

The 27-year-old has now suggested he could well be on his way out in January as he looks for regular game time. Speaking to C4 after England’s win over Italy, Phillips said: “As a football player, you always want to be playing, and so that’s the case with me.

“I want minutes and obviously I haven’t done that over the last year and a half, so that’s one thing I want to do. Let’s see what happens.”

Kalvin Phillips would be a crazy signing

Kalvin Phillips hasn’t played much football over the last year or so but that certainly doesn’t reflect his ability on the pitch.

If the midfielder had joined almost any other club in the Premier League last summer then he would be playing brilliantly and there would be no complaints about his position in the England squad, however Rodri (the best defensive midfielder in the world) has other ideas.

To get Phillips in for the second half of the campaign would be a huge boost for Everton, while the former Leeds United man likely to be one of the first names on the team-sheet.

Idrissa Gana Gueye has been far from the level required of Everton this season and Phillips would be a huge upgrade on the veteran.

The only issue would be Phillips’ £150,000-per-week contract, which Sean Dyche’s side would have to rely on Man City to significantly contribute towards.

Like Phillips said, we will have to see what happens, but Everton aren’t going to recruit much better in that position.
