James Garner has been loving life at Everton under Sean Dyche and this season particularly has looked at home in the Premier League.

Signed for £15m in 2022, James Garner is a Manchester United academy graduate and when it became apparent he was for sale, Everton luckily pounced on a deal.

The talented 22-year-old – who signed a four-year contract worth £30k-a-week upon signing – took some bedding in but now looks at home.

He showed how terrific he could be in the Championship during the 2021/22 season with Nottingham Forest.

He is primarily a midfielder, however, this season under Sean Dyche he’s become extremely versatile, filling in wherever he’s needed including on either wing.

Now, as he becomes a settled Premier League player, he’s pointed out the area he wants to improve in going forward.

James Garner on where he wants to improve going forward

Speaking with the Daily Mail, Garner has been discussing his career status currently. In doing so he pinpointed where he wants to improve going forward.

“This is like my first proper season in the Premier League,” Garner explained as he discussed facing some of the world’s best players.

“I’ve stayed at a good standard. Now I want to add more goals and assists. I’d done it in the Championship for Forest but personally wanted to compete against the best players in the world.”

Lastly, Garner made a bold prediction about his future and claimed he still has a long way to go quality-wise in his career.

“I feel I’m more than standing my ground and haven’t yet reached the player I know I can be.”

Everton have a real gem on their hands in Garner

In Garner, Goodison Park has a player who could be an absolute star and at just 22, he’s still got years until he is anywhere near his prime.

Given he’s been a name around English football for a few years at this point, it’s easy to forget how young he is and when Everton moves into Bramley Moore Dock, he’ll be just 24, and still be a young midfielder but that goes in his favour given he’s been great already.

Garner just has to keep doing what he’s been doing while working hard and he will have no problems bossing the league for years to come.
