Former Real Madrid player and Everton target Isco is available as a free agent this summer and insists he is looking for a new project.

The 31-year-old almost joined Everton when Carlo Ancelotti was in charge at Goodison Park and was even linked with the Blues earlier this year.

Indeed, the ‘fantastic’ player has spoken to Spanish outlet MARCA about his future and insists ‘I want to play’, though the free agent is still searching for a club.

When asked about what type of project would interest him, the Spanish international said: “A team with a competitive project and that tries to play good football.

I will never give priority to money, if not, I would not have gone to Sevilla. I have had many offers from Qatar and Arabia, with large salaries, but I want to play, compete and have fun.”

Isco is worth the gamble for Everton, as five-times Champions League winner can bring experience

Indeed, the 31-year-old midfielder made the switch from Real Madrid to Sevilla in August 2022, but this contract would be terminated by December of the same year.

The five-time Champions League winner was consistently linked with a move to Goodison Park, initially following Everton’s appointment of Carlo Ancelotti in 2019, though a deal never materialised.

Everton are likely to exploit the market for free agents this summer as the cash conscious club may be limited in terms of what can be spent.

Indeed, the addition of creativity is a must in Everton’s shot-shy midfield this summer, and a player with the talent and experience of Isco could be a superb addition.

If the 31-year-old now has his appetite for football back once more, he could light up Goodison Park next season.

His brief spell at Sevilla may have been a disaster, but the former Real Madrid man could still have something to offer.
