‘I’d have him back right now’… Everton fans all agree Farhad Moshiri made one major mistake

Marco Silva endured a difficult spell as Everton manager.

Farhad Moshiri hired Marco Silva during the summer of 2018 after a successful stint as the Watford manager.

But, despite arriving with much fanfare, the Portuguese head coach failed to make an impact on Merseyside and was given his marching orders just a year and a half into his tenure.

Upon reflection, perhaps Everton were wrong to sack Silva so soon as he’s now flourishing at Fulham, having established the West Londoners as genuine top-six challengers.

And, it would appear that Toffees fans share that same sentiment.

Everton fans admit Marco Silva was sacked too soon

Silva has always spoken well of Everton since leaving Goodison Park and he’s been complimentary of them again this week.

“It’s a fascinating club, it’s a huge challenge to be in charge of Everton. Before this Manchester City avalanche, Everton were the 5th or 6th club with the most league titles and titles in England, but in recent years that situation has reversed. However, Everton have a tremendous history.”

Reacting to those comments, Everton fans have admitted that Silva was sacked too soon and it’s one of Farhad Mohsiri’s biggest mistakes.

“I think our biggest mistakes under Moshiri were not having more patience with Silva and then hiring Ancelotti instead of Moyes to replace him,” @Birchy_Steve said.

@JordThomo added: “Unpopular opinion I’d have him back right now.”

“Good man good manager very unlucky who knows after Moyes,” @sophefc2023 said.

@Bjarne147 posted: “Always been respectful and talked us up. Probably the one manager out of all I didn’t give a chance.”

“Sacking Silva was our downfall for losing 3 games in a row against the top 4, if my memory is correct. Hard lesson learnt for all,” @AndyJudge commented.

@Benjwinst said: “Probably the manager under the old regime that I wanted it to work for. Shame it went so sour at the end. Always speaks well of the club.”

Silva now wanted by Tottenham Hotspur

Silva has completely changed Fulham’s fortunes around, as the Cottagers are just four points adrift of the top four.

Silva’s impressive job at Craven Cottage has alerted a number of clubs, and Tottenham Hotspur are the latest side to show an interest.

Tottenham have made Silva a top target to replace under-fire Ange Postecoglou, who has the North Londoners in the bottom half of the table.

The former Everton manager has also been heavily linked with Chelsea over the last 12 months or so.
