David Moyes won’t be happy as Friedkin Group try to sign £15m Everton target for Roma instead

Everton have one eye on the summer transfer window already.

When David Moyes rejoined Everton earlier this year, the main goal was to retain the club’s Premier League status.

And, just a few months into Moyes’ tenure, the Toffees are sitting 17 points clear of the relegation zone, so it’s pretty much job done in that regard.

There’s clearly one eye on next season already, as Everton are interested in West Bromwich Albion’s Tom Fellows.

Hamza Igamane is being linked with a move to Goodison Park, too, after his impressive debut season with Rangers.

However, one of Moyes’ main targets could now be snatched by the Friedkin Group’s other owned club, Roma.

Roma could snatch Everton target Dan Neil

Everton were trying to sign Sunderland’s Dan Neil in January, but the Championship promotion hopefuls were desperate to retain his signature.

The Black Cats slapped a £15m price tag on Neil, which is evidently an affordable fee for the cash-rich Toffees after their takeover in December.

So, it wouldn’t at all be surprising if they went back in for the 23-year-old midfielder in the summer, however, they’re facing serious competition from their sister club Roma.

According to Pete O’Rouke, the Serie A giants have joined the chase to sign Neil after he caught the eye whilst they were watching their loan star Enzo Le Fee.

Moyes won’t be happy

Evidently, if Roma do end up signing one of Moyes’ main transfer targets, it might not go down well.

The multi-club ownership model has lots of pros, with the opportunity to loan out academy talents and exchange some of the best players.

However, this situation is clearly one of the negatives, as Roma and Everton are a similar-sized club, so naturally, they’ll be shopping in the same market.

The Friedkin’s must ensure this situation doesn’t arise again, otherwise, it could create unnecessary tension.

It’s likely Neil would opt for a move to the Premier League instead of Serie A, anyway.
