Idrissa Gana Gueye’s agency is in no hurry to agree to extending his deal at Everton.
In recent weeks, Everton have triggered Michael Keane’s extension clause, which will keep him around for another season.
The same will be expected for Vitalii Mykolenko, but there is something different about Gueye’s optional extra year in his deal.
What would you do with Idrissa Gana Gueye this summer? 😬
He's got a one-year extension clause in his deal…
Although Everton have time to get the deal secured, Gueye’s agency are yet to show any urgency over putting pen to paper.

How Idrissa Gana Gueye’s agents are viewing Everton contract extension
Everton are considering the finances behind Gueye’s contract, with the 36-year-old earning a significant weekly salary.
Speaking on A View From The Bullens, one club insider has discussed the current feelings surrounding a one-year extension for the midfielder.
Don’t hold back, let us know who you want gone this summer 👋
“They [Gueye’s agency] are a little bit more on their heels with this, and their attitude is very much, ‘We’re not in a rush’,” he said.
“While it is a club option, it still has to be accepted on that side as well. Whether they will accept it, I don’t know at this present stage.
The interesting part here is that they know Everton are open to triggering this extension. From Roc Nation’s side, there hasn’t been a reluctance – I think that’s probably too strong of a word – but there has certainly been a feeling that they are not in any rush.”
Although the Senegal international is nearing the age of 37, he has remained a constant in the Everton side under Moyes.
Gueye is still playing at a good standard alongside James Garner, but it does sound as if his agency are trying to flex their muscles at the negotiating table.
Everton should not wait on Gueye’s camp
There is no doubting just how good of a servant Gueye has been for Everton over the years.
Michael Ball has criticised Gueye earlier in the season despite him remaining a regular starter under the 63-year-old.
Everton are looking to progress again this summer and they already have a number of midfielders hungry to take the veteran’s spot.
Harrison Armstrong, Tim Iroegbunam and Merlin Rohl are all eyeing the spot alongside James Garner ahead of the pre-season.
Everton may get one final year out of Gueye, but they should not be held hostage by his agency if they are showing little interest in getting this deal ticked off.
