Peter Reid has claimed Dominic Calvert-Lewin to save Everton from relegation this season.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the former midfielder has said the Toffees ‘will be okay’ if Calvert-Lewin can avoid any major injuries.
The 26-year-old endured another difficult start to the campaign after an unfortunate collision with Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez left him sidelined with a fractured cheekbone for almost a month.
Having spent almost a full year in the treatment room since 2021, Calvert-Lewin looks to be back at it after forcing his way back into the starting line-up with three goals in the last three games.
The striker has been pivotal to Everton’s recent flurry of victories and fans will be hoping he can keep up his form after the international break.

Peter Reid is one person who is confident that Calvert-Lewin can help turn things around at Goodison Park.
“I think he’s a really good footballer,” Reid told the ECHO.
“Obviously, he has had his injury problems, and I had loads of injury problems, so I know what he has been going through.
“I think he’s a threat, and he is a really good player; he gets in behind, and he puts defenders under pressure because he wants to score.
“His injuries have been muscular, and if you can’t get on the park, it is difficult.
“Every footballer wants to play, so it has been frustrating [for him] and it has been frustrating for Evertonians, but hopefully he is back and he can get a run of games. If he gets a run of games, I think we will be okay.”
DCL is the key to Everton’s safety
Every football fan knows exactly how talented Dominic Calvert-Lewin is and who knows how far he could have got in his career if it wasn’t for it being plagued with injuries.

Surely his bad luck has to end at some point and the striker will be hoping his cheekbone injury was the last of it.
The England international’s recent form has shown how capable he is of getting back to his best and it would be a huge surprise to see the club relegated with a player of such high quality leading the line.
It is as simple as keeping Calvert-Lewin fit and retaining their Premier League status.
