Paul Merson has now predicted the outcome of Everton vs Bournemouth at the weekend.

Everton welcome the Cherries to Goodison Park where Sean Dyche is yet to pick up a point so far this season, and Merson states he’s ‘backing’ the visitors to pick up all three on Saturday.

Writing in his weekly Sportskeeda column, Merson predicts that the ‘shocker’ of a result against Luton last week will be playing on Everton’s minds, allowing Bournemouth to take advantage.

Predicting a 1-0 win for Andoni Iraola’s side, Merson states: “Not too long ago, Everton pulled off an extraordinary away win and were a mid-table team.

They went on to lose to Luton and if they suffer a similar fate this weekend, they’ll find themselves in a relegation battle. They had a shocker against Luton and the result will knock them sideways.

Bournemouth are one of only two teams that are yet to win a game in the Premier League this season.

I know they’ve been poor so far, but they do look threatening at times and I’m backing them to win this match.”

Everton must win against Bournemouth to begin improving their dreadful start to the season

Everton’s 3-1 away win at Brentford a fortnight ago appeared to be the game that got the Toffees’ season going, especially as it was followed by a 2-1 win at Villa Park in the League Cup.

However, a 2-1 home defeat to Luton Town last week brought Sean Dyche’s side back down to earth and was a timely reminder that it will likely be another challenging season.

Everton boss Sean Dyche has previously stated that his side have to turn ‘performances into wins’ to improve their home form, and a win against Bournemouth would be an ideal place to start.

The Blues have already squandered far too many winnable games this season and cannot afford to keep doing so.
