Another big transfer deal is in the offing, with Crysencio Summerville, who’s been linked with Everton, set to complete a move to Al-Hilal.

According to David Ornstein, the Saudi club have reached an agreement to sign the Netherlands international from West Ham United for a whopping £68 million.

The Hammers have already sold Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham Hotspur for £85 million this summer.

And they are now set to make another huge sale with winger Summerville heading to the Saudi Pro League.

Everton had shown interest in Summerville earlier in the summer, but the details of this story do make one thing absolutely clear for David Moyes.

Summerville is a terrific winger and at the age of 24, still has a lot of room to develop.

While West Ham went down last season, he was a bright spark in the second half of the campaign and had it not been for several big goal contributions he made, the Irons would have been relegated weeks before they eventually were.

News of his impending move to Al-Hilal is a crying shame.

This is a player who is easily good enough to be playing in the Premier League, or another top five league in Europe.

Instead, he is treading a path that is becoming increasingly popular for players over the last few years – even ones that aren’t even in their peaks yet.

If we’re being honest, Summerville is making the move to Al-Hilal for one reason and one reason only, which is for the money.

The Saudi Pro League has grown a lot in terms of its profile and popularity over the last few years, but it remains far behind the top leagues in Europe in terms of reach and also standard.

So it’s safe to say he’ll be going there for money, and that provides clarity for Everton.

There need not be any regret about not signing him, because money being the biggest motivating factor for a player is never ideal.

Everton would still like another wide player this month, given the uncertainty over Jack Grealish’s potential return and also Dwight McNeil’s future.

Summerville won’t be coming. But the likes of Jacob Murphy and Keito Nakamura have been linked, so perhaps we’ll see a swoop for one of those two later in the window.
