‘In all honesty’ – Everton fans are divided by who David Moyes wants to sign after Leeds United defeat

The desire for signings has only heightened following Everton’s frustrating display against Leeds United.

An away game against a newly-promoted side, especially at Elland Road, isn’t an easy way to start for Everton.

But there weren’t many signs to go off, apart from a spirited second-half performance and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall covering lots of ground.

In terms of an attacking point of view though, it was non-existent, as Beto managed just 22 touches.

This must raise alarm bells in David Moyes’ head, and it looks like the Scotsman has been forced into action, but it’s certainly a debated decision.

Everton fans react to possible Jamie Vardy signing after fresh update

After Beto’s lacklustre display and Thierno Barry still being raw in the Premier League, it looks like an experienced head up front is needed.

Jamie Vardy is back on Everton’s radar after past interest, as the 38-year-old is still searching for a new club after leaving Leicester City.

Moyes is clearly assessing his options, and fans have come out and said different things about the 145-goal striker.

One fan is against the signing, saying: “If that is the best we can do then we are in trouble,” but another disagreed, suggesting: “All saying No, he at 38 offers more up top as a threat than Beto, he might, just might score us a goal, we have spent plenty on potential with Barry and Chermiti, whether they step up with no experience is another matter.”

“We need an experienced striker to poach goals in the box,” another added in favour of Vardy, but one Evertonian wasn’t best pleased: “If our “world class football operations team” (Angus Kinnear’s words, not mine) sign 38 year old Jamie Vardy on a free then it’s an absolute shambles tbh.”

The example of Everton’s 1-0 defeat was used in terms of signing Vardy: “In all honesty he can’t be worse than what we seen last night,” but someone else wasn’t too pleased, saying: “Depressing even being linked.”

It would be a free transfer that would spark a slight uproar, but also is looked upon with an understandable feeling, and you can see where Moyes is coming from.

Jamie Vardy would provide Premier League experience in final third for Everton

With this deal considered, it’s fair to say it’s certainly a long shot this late in the window.

This isn’t the type of ambition Toffees fans expected, as signing a veteran like Vardy has been frowned upon.

But there are positives to this deal, as although his age has been taken into account, his last season in the Premier League wasn’t bad going for a 38-year-old.

The striker can support the likes of Barry, who might struggle in adapting to the Premier League, as the former Foxes striker can also provide his energy.

Also, Vardy could be ‘perfect’ for Jack Grealish to take the chances created, as he still has that finishing touch in front of goal.

It’s certainly an unusual turn of events this summer, but for just one year, it could turn out to be very beneficial for the Blues.
