Everton have a dilemma involving Iliman Ndiaye.
The Senegal international rejected several contract offers throughout the 2025/26 campaign as Everton failed to appease the former Sheffield United star – who is tied to the Toffees until June 2029.
The situation is hardly ideal for David Moyes given how crucial Ndiaye is to Everton – and Patrick Boyland of The Athletic has now shared an update he believes will “frustrate” a section of the fanbase.
Iliman Ndiaye saga not expected to be revisited until “July or August”
If the 26-year-old is firmly against signing a new contract, then Everton will presumably look to sell sooner rather than later to ensure they receive as high a fee as possible and can reinvest it.
However, this situation looks set to drag on.
How much would it take for Everton to accept a bid for Iliman Ndiaye? 💷
David Moyes said every player has his price… 😫
Speaking on The Blue Room podcast, Boyland said: “I don’t necessarily think it means Ndiaye wants to leave Everton right now. Certainly, the last I heard when I last checked, he’s not actually told Everton that at all.
“What he has done is, he’s rejected those deals, and on those very specific terms. So it’s one of those for me where the cat’s out of the bag with the initial story. I reported it last Tuesday, and I’ve had follow-ups since, but I wouldn’t necessarily expect there to be loads of movement. The indications we’re getting are that he’s kind of away now with Senegal at the World Cup. The focus will be on that.
“I think that’s a (kind of) let’s see where we are in July or August situation again, which will frustrate some fans, by the way. Because I think in ideal terms, you probably do what? In a world where you do sell him, you probably do what Newcastle did with (Anthony) Gordon, don’t you?”
Selling Ndiaye late into the summer is certainly not ideal for Everton – it would give the Toffees less time to find a suitable replacement for a key player, and also mean whoever comes in receives little time to settle and get used to Moyes’ style of play.
How likely do you think it is that Everton could lose Iliman Ndiaye this summer? 😬
Surely a player of his quality will want to showcase himself on the top stage 🤩
Hopefully, some kind of agreement can be reached with the man born in Rouen, as his value would surely decrease substantially if Everton allow him to reach a stage where he only has two years remaining on his contract next summer.
