‘Is this a joke’… Everton fans not happy with what Sean Dyche said about one of his players

Everton fans have had a few issues with the selection of certain players in the starting XI in weeks gone by, with the centre-back partnership a focus area.

The Toffees have now gone unbeaten in their last three games in the Premier League with an impressive seven points after defeating Ipswich Town earlier on today.

Sean Dyche has had his fair share of criticism, but he’s finding a way to win with his Everton side.

Michael Keane silenced some of his doubters with a lovely goal in the first-half, though he did look clumsy at times in the first-half.

However, before the game, fans weren’t too pleased with what Sean Dyche said about one player in particular in his pre-match press conference.

What Sean Dyche had to say about Jake O’Brien before Ipswich Town clash

James Tarkowski and Michael Keane were leaned upon once again today against Ipswich Town, which mean that Jake O’Brien had to spend his day on the substitutes’ bench.

Interestingly, ahead of the game, Sean Dyche finally broke the silence about O’Brien’s situation at the club, stating that his time will come.

“Jake’s been very patient, he’s going to have to be because he’s got three very, very good centre-halves, very experienced centre-halves there.”

These Everton fans, when speaking on X, were far from happy with Dyche’s judgement.

“Is this a joke.”, @skjones505 said.

@Dec__Golf wasn’t happy: “I’d say the lad is not happy, he’d be playing every week at Lyon, he’s now lost his international place.”

@EllBretland stated: “It hurts my head this. If I was Jake O’Brien hearing my manager saying I’m not ready and that I’ll need to be patient after seeing Everton concede for fun I’d be thinking I’ve made a mistake coming here. So needlessly over-complicated and so costly.”

@Kevin_1878 mentioned: “Feel sorry for Jake O’Brien. Forced here to be 4th choice CB when he was really enjoying his football playing in a better side and progressing really well. Micheal Keane with a yr left and no future and cost us big in lots of games gets put in ahead of him. How can you adapt?”

“What has this poor lad that we spend some of our incredibly limited budget on got to do to be ahead of Keane. I just don’t get it.” @ThomRawlinson also brought up Keane’s poor form at times this season.

@David180000 commented: “So, we’ve spent £17m (when we’re beyond skint) on a CH to be 4th choice. Another great strategic move by Everton – they never seize to amaze me.”
