Everton may have had some good news regarding Che Adams.
Speaking ahead of Southampton’s match against QPR today, Saints boss Russell Martin admitted that he hoped Adams would be included in their match-day squad unless ‘the situation has developed’.
The striker was recently the subject of a £15 million bid from Everton as they desperately look to add a new No.9 to their depleted squad.
Adams netted ten goals in all competitions as Southampton were relegated last season and looked like he could be on his way out after he entered the final 12 months of his contract.
However, radio silence and the Toffees’ fresh pursuit of Beto suggested that the deal was off the table.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Everton have reached an agreement with Udinese over a £25 million deal for Beto, with the striker set to undergo a medical on Sunday.

However, Martin’s comments – followed by Adams’ absence at St Mary’s Stadium – has suggested something may have happened on the Everton front.
“It will be down to the situation and how Che feels about it. Ideally, we will have him in the team tomorrow,” Martin said on Friday.
“If he’s not, it’s likely because the situation has developed a bit. We have to be aware that something might happen in the next 24 to 48 hours.”
Despite the Saints expecting Adams to be included in today’s match, the Scotland international wasn’t even named on the bench.
While it would be surprising to see Everton sign both Adams and Beto, it is a very interesting development and could be an interesting few days at Goodison Park.
Martin also admitted that they have offered Adams a new contract, though the 27-year-old’s absence suggests he is yet to put pen to paper.
