Everton are finally about to be taken over by the Friedkin Group.
Alan Myers expects Everton’s takeover to be completed this week, so there’s set to be a lot of change over the next few months.
That could put Sean Dyche’s position under major threat as it’s come to light that the Friedkin Group have a three-man shortlist to replace the Everton boss.
Though, one of their candidates Graham Potter is now being linked with RB Leipzig, so they may have to rule him out of the running.
The new ownership could also make a change at boardroom level with a new director of football replacing Kevin Thelwell.
After leaving Manchester United, Dan Ashworth has been tipped to join Everton and if that does materialise, here is who his first signing could be at Goodison Park.

Dan Ashworth could sign Julio Enciso
Dan Ashworth enjoyed two highly successful spells at Brighton and Newcastle United prior to his Man United debacle.
Ashworth’s talent identification is exceptional as evinced by some of his best recruits over the last four or five years.
- Moises Caicedo
- Alexander Isak
- Anthony Gordon
- Kaoru Mitoma
- Leandro Trossard
The chief also helped to mould Brighton’s scouting network in South America, which is continuing to bear fruit for the Seagulls.
One of his spots, Julio Enciso, burst onto the scene a couple of seasons ago and was widely considered among the most promising talents in the division.
However, a meniscus tear last year has stalled that progress somewhat, and he is now looking to leave the club in January after playing a bit-part role this term, according to La Nacion.
Enciso wants to remain in England, so it wouldn’t at all be surprising if Ashworth made the Paraguayan his first signing at Everton, should he indeed be appointed.
Roberto De Zerbi previously said Enciso has ‘big potential’
Speaking after Brighton’s score draw against Manchester City in 2023, Roberto De Zerbi hailed his goalscorer Enciso and admitted he has ‘big potential’.
“The goal was incredible but Julio has big, big potential,” De Zerbi said, via Manchester Evening News.
“I want him to play better, I want him to play for the team and I think he can improve. If he stays with us I think for sure, he can improve.”
The wonder strike was nominated for the Puskas Award at the Ballon d’Or ceremony later that year and catapulted the young playmaker into headlines across England and beyond.
In fact, it even led to transfer links with Man City, so it’s clear if Everton were to land his signature, they’d be getting a supremely talented youngster who could genuinely become a game-changer at Goodison Park in their bid to survive.
