Everton’s striker issues were on show again against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
Beto started up front for Everton yesterday but struggled to make an impact, which has been the story of the season so far.
The towering centre-forward has scored just one league goal this term, and £30m summer signing Thierno Barry is yet to get off the mark.
David Moyes could start Iliman Ndiaye as a striker as a short-term solution, but he should consider signing another number nine when the January transfer window opens.
With that said, there is a really obvious striker out there who would be perfect for Moyes’ system.

Everton should try to sign Ivan Toney
Moyes views Barry as a project signing and always planned to bring in another centre-forward to support the Frenchman and Beto.
That notion is now more evident than ever, as it feels as though Everton are a prolific striker away from really challenging at the top end of the table for the European spots.
To help them achieve that goal, Moyes and his chiefs should explore a deal to sign former Brentford striker Ivan Toney.
Toney is currently plying his trade in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ahli and has netted nine goals in 11 games so far this season.
The seven-cap England international hasn’t been included in Thomas Tuchel’s two most recent squads, so he could be tempted to make a return to the Premier League ahead of the World Cup next summer.
David Moyes considered signing Ivan Toney at West Ham
Speaking back in December 2022, when he was West Ham United manager, Moyes admitted he considered signing Toney.
“I remember seeing him a little bit for Wigan on loan. Then he went to Peterborough. We had a scout who lived in Peterborough – Robbie Cook, died a couple of years ago – and we were watching Ivan Toney loads and loads. Would we, wouldn’t we, would we, wouldn’t we. We probably missed out when he was £9-10m from Peterborough to Brentford. It might have ended up more than that.
“We looked a lot at Ivan Toney at that time. He has turned out to be a super player and a handful for every team. That was when I was here. No, it never got close. We watched and we talked and we looked but we never did, it never materialised.”
That suggests Moyes is a big admirer of Toney’s profile and skillset, so it wouldn’t at all be surprising to see the Scotsman reignite that interest come the winter window.
