Duncan Ferguson is still loved by Everton supporters to this day.

The former Everton striker made 272 appearances for the club, netting a whopping 72 goals whilst laying on 13 assists.

Duncan Ferguson remains the highest-scoring Scotsman in Premier League history and is second in Everton’s records, only behind Romelu Lukaku.

Since retiring, Ferguson has thrown himself into coaching and spent years working at Finch Farm before leaving for Forest Green Rovers.

The 53-year-old’s last managerial position was at Inverness, but since leaving in October, he’s been promoting his new book in the media.

In a recent interview with the Mirror, Ferguson spoke about something at Everton that’s really upsetting him.

Duncan Ferguson doesn’t want Everton to leave Goodison Park

Everton are preparing to bid farewell to Goodison Park, as they move into the new state-of-the-art stadium on Bramley-Moore Dock next season.

It’s set to be transformative for the club’s finances, with Dan Friedkin in talks to land a £100m naming rights deal.

However, Ferguson is really upset about the move as he doesn’t want to leave Goodison.

“The first thing about that day is that I will be very sad,” Ferguson said when discussing the final home game against Southampton.

“The place is all our memories. Fans, players, dads, mums, grandads, great-grandads.

“I’m very sad that we are leaving. I would have much preferred to stay there but I guess time moves on.”

Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium will allow Everton to spend much more money

Indeed, leaving Goodison Park will be sad for all Evertonians, but there is an acceptance among many that it needs to be done.

It’s predicted that Everton will earn £40m extra in revenue every year, allowing them to spend much more money in the transfer market.

So, if the Friedkin Group realises their dreams, the Toffees will be playing European football at Bramley-Moore in the near future.

It also allows more supporters to watch the team they love, so it’s certainly a positive change for the football club.
