Jack Grealish called Everton target ‘the most underrated striker in the world’ in 2020

Everton are still scouring the market for a new striker, and one target was once lauded by Jack Grealish.

The Toffees are in a promising position right now after the win over Aston Villa.

With the club just four points away from fourth place in the table, there have been calls for The Friedkin Group to flash the cash to try and drive Everton towards European football.

If YOU were in charge, would you bring Lukaku back to Everton? 🤔

He only has 18 months left on his contract at Napoli… 👀

A new striker is on the agenda. However, Everton are proceeding with caution.

There was a surprise earlier this week when Romelu Lukaku was linked with a shock return to Everton.

Seemingly there is little chance of it happening – but one man who’d potentially welcome it with open arms is Jack Grealish.

Lukaku has yet to play this season having been injured.

The Belgium international suffered a muscle injury during pre-season, and has been forced to watch Napoli from the sidelines so far.

Napoli are actually in the market for a new striker, and have even eyed Everton target Youssef En-Nesyri this month.

And that has led to exit links to Lukaku.

Lukaku, of course, previously had a four-year stint at Everton before leaving for Manchester United. He then played for Inter, then Chelsea again, before heading to Italy.

He’s had a great career, and in December 2020, he actually prompted Jack Grealish to dish out quite the compliment as he shone in a Champions League match for Roma.

After Lukaku scored a brace against Borussia Monchengladbach, Grealish said on his Instagram Story (via HITC): “Lukaku man!!! Most underrated striker in the world. Unreal!”

The 2020/21 season was certainly a fruitful one for Lukaku, who finished with 30 goals across all competitions.

Lukaku return to Everton is highly unlikely

The potential for Grealish and Lukaku to actually become teammates is definitely not very high.

Everton were said to have enquired about Lukaku, but received a negative response.

That said, who knows if the situation will change, because Lukaku will go into the final 12 months of his contract in the summer.

Evertonians adored Lukaku during his spell at Goodison Park and despite his advancing years and injury problems, many would likely welcome him back with open arms.
