Jack Grealish told he can emulate Everton legend who fans ‘fell in love with’

Ambition has been shown with the signing of Jack Grealish as he has the chance to put his name in Everton history.

It’s only a loan spell, but it’s easy to get carried away with what the winger could achieve at the Toffees if he hits the ground running.

Grealish’s buy option is £50 million, which means if paid out he would become the most expensive signing in Everton’s history.

This is of course if he really impressed David Moyes and The Friedkin Group, but the 29-year-old has the quality to do so.

In fact, with his quality, the Man City star has been told he can replicate a true Toffees great.

Richard Keys says Jack Grealish can emulate Everton legend Duncan McKenzie

It’s unknown where Moyes will play Grealish, but judging by Iliman Ndiaye’s irreplaceable force on the left-hand side, it seems like that number ten position has the England international’s name written all over it.

This is what football presenter Richard Keys thinks, as Keys believes that Grealish can emulate Duncan McKenzie, who was an attacking midfielder in the 1970s, described as a maverick with his skills.

The famous chant goes, ‘We all agree, Duncan McKenzie is magic!’ and the new Everton star will be hoping he has the same reception.

It’s a lot to live up to but after Grealish was once called the Premier League’s ‘best’, he has every right to kick on at the Hill Dickinson Stadium and live up to McKenzie’s two-year tenure.

It’s a tough legacy to live up to, but if Grealish can show his expertise across this season at his fullest, he’s got a real chance.

McKenzie caught the eye on Merseyside through his entertaining style of play and flair, which is something the City star can also bring.

Speaking to the Daily Mail in 2019, the Blues icon explained how he is still recognised, and claimed: “Even today, fans come up and say they fell in love with football because of me.”

The Toffees have been lacking that standout entertaining spark for a while now, and although Ndiaye has shown promise, Grealish’s stature in the game can help fill this role.

Grealish has been influenced by Wayne Rooney, but maybe he should watch some clips of McKenzie, and then he can find his true potential at Everton.
