James Tarkowski has been very impressed by Everton’s all-rounder Amadou Onana.
Amadou Onana joined the Toffees from Lille for £33 million last summer and was immediately thrust into the starting line-up, with the club really struggling for squad depth.
The Belgian reached the Premier League with a bang and quickly became a regular in the team, making 33 appearances in the top flight.
Onana’s form attracted interest from the likes of Manchester United, Newcastle and Chelsea, but Everton’s hefty price-tag meant there were no offers for the midfielder and he remained at Goodison Park.
Onana started the current campaign poorly and received plenty of criticism, however the team’s upturn in form has seen his performances praised at the same time.
Onana has started all but one game where he wasn’t out injured, most recently netting in the 2-0 win against Burnley.
Onana has delighted supporters this season, while James Tarkowski seems equally as impressed with his teammate.
Speaking on Ben Foster’s Fozcast podcast, the defender said: “You see some of the athletes the Premier League has.

“We’ve got a few at our place, like big Amadou Onana. 6 ft 5, can run all day, sprints at over 10m ps, he’s just got everything of an athlete, plus he’s technically gifted as well. It’s like, you’ve got everything.”
How much potential does Amadou Onana really have?
Amadou Onana is only 22 years old, but the traits that James Tarkowski mentions make him a very exciting player for the future.
The youngster can pretty much do everything, and also has the height and stature to help in all areas of the pitch.
Onana has made the third-most tackles in the squad (32), the fourth-most headers won (36) and the third-most short passes completed (391), while also bagging two goals and an assist in all competitions.
He has all the characteristics to become a huge asset to Everton and he has begun to show that already under Sean Dyche.
He just needs to mature slightly, and that was quite clear with his penalty in the Carabao Cup defeat to Fulham. But of course, that will come in time.
Despite having a number of veterans in the squad, Onana is one of a few younger players coming through and proving they can be the future of Everton. The Belgian is joined by the likes of Vitaliy Mykolenko, James Garner and Jarrad Branthwaite in really stepping up recently.
