Jarrod Bowen’s 2024 David Moyes gratitude surely gives Everton genuine transfer chance

Everton want to strengthen this summer, and Jarrod Bowen has been linked with a move.

The Toffees are facing a huge next window, with the expectations likely to rise high for The Friedkin Group’s second full season at the helm.

It looks like Everton could miss out on European football now.

That will be a blow, but it could also light a fire beneath the owners to get the squad where it needs to be to achieve that at the end of 2026/27.

Would you rather Everton sign Summerville or Bowen this summer? 👀

And one player who could certainly help Everton is Jarrod Bowen.

Bowen is on Everton’s radar – and the David Moyes factor could be absolutely key to any transfers.

Bowen has been one of the most consistent wingers in the Premier League over the last four or five years.

West Ham United have struggled in recent times, but the 29-year-old has always stood up and been counted, and he is held in extremely high regard there.

But with the Hammers now staring down the barrel of relegation, it could be time for him to move on.

It’s been suggested that Bowen may prefer to remain in London, as he loves life in the capital.

But Moyes’ presence at Everton means a move should not be ruled out. Especially with how Bowen has previously spoken about the Scot.

He said of Moyes in May 2024 (via whufc.com): “We’ve spoken about me scoring 20 goals and being awarded Player of the Season – but they wouldn’t have been possible without him [David Moyes] and if he didn’t bring me to the club.

“I always go back to the time where he brought me into the Club, and having the faith to bring me in from the [EFL] Championship as players in that league were sometimes frowned upon. Since I’ve been here and worked with him over the last four and a half years, we’ve had some great games, great memories and came away with a European trophy as well.

“Today [Saturday] was about him and it’s important we won the game [3-1 against Luton Town] and got him the send-off he deserved because what he has done for this Club is incredible. Since I’ve been here, he has kept us up, avoided relegation and has made us European winners within three years, so that speaks for itself. I don’t think he will ever be forgotten here because of what he has done.

“His door is always open for any player, and I think that is one of the best things about him. He’s not just a football manager, but a person as well, and is one of the best people I have worked with. I’ve spoken with him already on a one-to-one level to thank him for everything he’s done for me as I wanted him to know how appreciative I am of him and how I always will be for the rest of my career.”

That Bowen has called Moyes ‘one of the best people I have worked with’ really shows the profound impact he had on the winger.

If West Ham go down he will surely leave, because a player of his calibre simply cannot play in the second tier.

Hopefully West Ham would be willing to reward Bowen for his service and loyalty by not pricing him out of certain moves.

There has been talk of a £60 million valuation, and that would need to come down significantly if Everton are to get involved.

But given how Bowen sees his old manager, the Toffees have surely got to have a go at signing him – and a charm offensive by Moyes could well bring a move to fruition.
