Jesper Lindstrom now in ‘advanced negotiations’ to join new club after leaving Everton

Everton took the choice not to sign Jesper Lindstrom with the Dane not really impressing David Moyes.

When Lindstrom made the loan switch to Everton, there was plenty of excitement that came with the midfielder.

An £18m option to buy seemed like a bargain at the time, but Lindstrom only managed one goal contribution, an assist for Jack Harrison, which was also his only involvement last season.

This led to Moyes waving goodbye to Lindstrom’s ‘mediocre’ stint with the Scotsman now on the search for a new attacking midfielder.

As for the 25-year-old, Napoli want to sell Lindstrom, and it appears a new club has been found for him.

Jesper Lindstrom almost has new club after leaving Everton

It was clear that Lindstrom didn’t have a future on Merseyside, as although he showed sparks, there was nothing really there for Moyes to go off.

Whilst not even providing the quality needed, Lindstrom also suffered injuries, which wouldn’t have helped his chances of a permanent deal.

It seems as though it’s the best decision for all parties concerned and Lindstrom may now have found the next chapter in his career.

Wolfsburg want Lindstrom on loan, as although not a permanent transfer, Napoli will happily oblige.

Now, Florian Plettenberg is reporting that the 25-year-old is in ‘advanced negotiations’ with the Bundesliga side, as he looks to prove his Everton doubters wrong.

Danish football expert got it all wrong about Lindstrom at Everton

After he showed glimpses of an exciting addition for Sean Dyche last summer, the Toffees thought they had a real talent on their hands.

He first appeared on the European scene after really impressing with Frankfurt at a young age, which brought him the move to Napoli.

But Everton didn’t get this player in the slightest, and with his stint at the club dead and buried, a Danish football expert didn’t quite hit the nail on the head when Lindstrom signed.

Toke Møller Theilade said Lindstrom would be a good signing as he provides real ability to Everton, but it was a struggle to see this.

Of course, this doesn’t mean he’s necessarily a bad player, but he just didn’t fit Everton’s style, and after Theilade said he’d be a fan favourite, it seems as though Lindstrom will be forgotten about very quickly.

Wolfsburg presents a chance to prove everyone wrong, but Lindstrom and Everton just never seemed to click.
