Jesper Lindstrom made his debut for Everton at the weekend as he scored a free-kick against Preston North End.
The midfielder completed a loan switch to Goodison Park last month, with an option to buy available if he impresses.
Lindstrom’s attractive form at Eintracht Frankfurt had previously earned him a big money move to Napoli, but things didn’t work out quite as he had hoped in Serie A.
He is now looking to redeem himself on Merseyside and is ready to kickstart the Premier League campaign after making the ‘easy choice’ to join Everton.
Lindstrom has now explained what he was told about the Toffees before deciding to make his move to the city.

Lindstrom already feels so ‘natural’ at Everton
Speaking to Liverpool World after the Preston win, he said: “I had known about Everton’s interest for a long time – not only this year. There had been some talks and as soon as they said they wanted me, I said: ‘Let’s go.’ I wanted to try something new and I wanted to go to the Premier League and Everton is a big team with a big history.
“There was no problem at all. There were just some negotiation areas and stuff. But it’s football. If you want to go every day it’s difficult because there’s negotiations going around. But as soon as I heard of it, it was an easy choice because, like I said, it was natural to be here. I heard the guys were amazing.
““I said to my mental coach and my agent that it feels so natural, like I’ve stayed here for a couple of months. So, yeah, they are taking very good care of me, the physios, the guys in the team, the coaches and stuff. So I’m very happy to be here. I still need to get it going because I still have some – you see when I get the ball I still have to look up sometimes and I need the time for that but I want to be fully ready for the Premier League.”
Will Lindstrom become the new James Rodriguez?
Lindstrom’s versatility could be vital for Everton, with the Dane having played in practically every position ahead of the backline.
He has mostly been deployed as an attacking midfielder though and will look to add a creative spark to Everton’s team, having previously relied on the goals of Abdoulaye Doucoure from the middle of the park.
Lindstrom will be looking to reignite his career at Everton and that could go one of two ways, with the likes of Dele Alli and James Rodriguez previously moving to Merseyside with the same intentions.
Dele could still turn things around if he rejoins Everton, but has mostly been a massive flop after arriving at the club in 2022.
James made much more of an impact as he netted six goals and provided four assists in his first season, but his time at the club was cut short when Carlo Ancelotti left.
Sean Dyche will be eager to see Lindstrom back to his best with the Toffees, and if the team can steer clear of relegation, then hopefully they can reap the rewards of his form and hand him a permanent deal.
