Jesper Lindstrom has now had to undergo surgery on a hernia discovered over recent weeks.
It has just been one of those seasons for Everton where they have failed to put together their best possible XI through injuries.
David Moyes will have been delighted with some of the returning players to the fold over the last week or so.
Iliman Ndiaye and Dwight McNeil have returned for Everton, but there has now been a fresh blow with Lindstrom.
There are only eight games remaining in the season before Lindstrom is set to return to Napoli at the end of his loan deal.
And this injury has certainly put a spanner in the works over any potential permanent deal to keep him on Merseyside.

Jesper Lindstrom shares Everton injury message
Moyes shared word of Lindstrom’s hernia scare last week and the Denmark international has already gone under the knife.
It is a real blow for the winger who has been keen to impress during his season-long loan spell at Everton.
After waking up from his surgery, Lindstrom took to Instagram where he has shared an image of himself in the hospital bed.

Keen to provide fans with an update, Lindstrom simply said: ‘Everything went well. Can’t wait to get back!’
Lindstrom is keen to sign permanently with Everton, but this injury may have just put his future under even more doubt.
Suggesting he can’t wait to get back may well even suggest he could play for the Toffees again.
The winger has not exactly lit up Merseyside with just one assist to his name this season.
However, Moyes has been impressed with Lindstrom but this injury may have just twisted the club’s arm when it comes to his future.
What David Moyes said about Lindstrom’s injury
Speaking to the media on Friday, Moyes shared the news of Lindstrom’s surgery.
“Well, unfortunately, Jesper had a hernia operation yesterday, so that’ll probably rule Jesper out for most of the season now,” he said.

Moyes was really pushing for Lindstrom to improve and there had been some positive signs with the assist for Jack Harrison at Wolves.
With the winger now unlikely to feature again, there will be huge question marks as to whether he has done enough to secure a future at Everton.
