Everton’s new owners the Friedkin Group are prepared to splash the cash to get the club back into Europe.

The American investors will give David Moyes a substantial budget to spend this summer transfer window.

Moyes wants to recruit from the Championship and as such, the likes of Maxime Esteve and Chris Rigg have been linked to Goodison Park.

Though, speaking exclusively to the site, a Sunderland expert revealed Rigg is unlikely to join Everton this summer, with the likes of Manchester United and Bayern Munich standing a better chance.

Plus, according to Liverpool Echo journalist Joe Thomas, Moyes may not actually be able to spend his cash until the end of June.

Everton expected to spend cautiously until end of June

Speaking on the Royal Blue podcast, Joe Thomas explained that Everton won’t be making any blockbuster signings until the end of June, when the financial year ends.

“But whilst I don’t think there’s any danger, and if there’s any fear of Everton not complying this time round, there’s obviously the way the regulations work,” Thomas said.

“There’s only so much you can do depending on what you spend and what you’re bringing in and things like that.

“So I think that we’ll see probably a cautious Everton up to the end of June, and then we’ll see a more ambitious Everton afterwards.

“That’s when they’ll spend their money in the new PSR window. And someone like Branthwaite for it, it’s not just the fact that you might end up with bringing 67 million pounds into the club, it’s the exponential factor that then means and what you can then spend with PSR, which is also helpful.”

Everton open to selling Jarrad Branthwaite

Thomas further explained that Everton will consider selling Jarrad Branthwaite if their valuation is met, as there are still some PSR issues looming.

“Yeah, I mean, with Branthwaite, I think if someone comes close to the club’s valuation, if someone comes in north of 50, then I think they will be pragmatic about it.”

Manchester United have been eyeing Branthwaite ahead of the summer window and it’s understood the Everton defender may consider leaving Goodison Park after being left out of England’s lastest squad.

Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with Branthwaite, who has a £70m price tag.

If the Friedkin’s do decide to offload the 22-year-old early on in the summer, it would allow them to get their business done sooner.

Moyes wants to sign a centre-forward and Everton have been eyeing £33m-rated Nick Woltemade, who’s enjoying a prolific season in the Bundesliga with Stuttgart.
