Everton need to find a way of scoring goals – and quickly.

The Toffees fell to another defeat in the Premier League on Saturday, losing to Bournemouth 1-0 at the Vitality Stadium.

Sean Dyche’s side were really poor again, and it was the same old story of not being able to threaten in the final third.

Even some Bournemouth fans chanted about how poor Everton were, and the pressure is building on the manager.

But The Friedkin Group were said to be backing Dyche, a stance that will surely now be really tested if things do not change quickly.

Everton have failed to score in eight of their last 10 games now, suggesting that this squad is crying out for a new attacker.

And seemingly, Everton are interested in Igor Jesus.

It’s been reported by RTI Esporte Agency that the majority shareholder of Alvinegro football John Textor – who was in the frame to buy Everton – is ‘not opposed’ to negotiating over the striker definitively in this transfer window.

Supposedly, Flamengo have already turned down one proposal for Jesus from Arsenal.

The Gunners were looking to take the player on loan, with an option to buy or around £16.6 million. THe Brazilian club have no interest in sanctioning any loan move for Jesus.

Arsenal have lost Bukayo Saka to a serious hamstring injury and are looking to sign a player who can bring goals.

They have been in talks over Jesus since the backend of last year.

But Everton will hope to elbow the Gunners aside given their major need for goals. And Jesus is certainly someone who’s in red-hot form, having hit 25 goals in 56 appearances in 2024.

Everton may need managerial change more than a new striker

As much as it feels like signing Jesus would be a positive move for Everton, there is probably more of an argument to say that a change of manager would be more beneficial.

Everton are in a really worrying predicament right now with this lack of threat in the final third.

Under Dyche, this team is utterly toothless.

But one suspects the potential to score goals is there deep down, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin having scored goals at Premier League level previously, and Iliman Ndiaye having been lively.

Armando Broja also has the attributes to thrive in this league.

But TFG certainly have some big questions to answer regarding the current manager, despite their backing of him.
