John Textor has grand ambitions to take Everton back to where he and its unwavering fanbase feel it belongs.

To many, this is a sleeping giant just waiting to be awoken, but with recent financial missteps, the obstacles associated with waking it are now too much for many takeover suitors to consider.

Dan Friedkin walked away, whilst 777 Partners were cast aside, thankfully.

And now, it is just this American left, who hopefully can figure out a plan to achieve that successful vision. Step one of this plan has just been revealed.

John Textor’s Everton plan revealed

The latest on John Textor’s plans for Everton following the completion of this takeover comes courtesy of The Guardian, who actually outline the finance-related scheme which would see fans actually given a chance to purchase a little slice of the club.

After all, that is what happens when you float a club on the stock exchange, which is what the American businessman is keen to do.

The report reads: ‘Textor is planning to use his money and that of several unknown partners to fund the Everton purchase before absorbing the club into Eagle Football. Everton could then be listed on the stock exchange in a move which would require approval from the club’s board.

‘Although a public flotation is rare for Premier League clubs, Manchester United and Tottenham are listed on the New York Stock Exchange, and Arsenal shares are available to buy on the ISDX market.

‘A source with knowledge of the process said Textor had been preparing to float for some time, and that the addition of a Premier League club to the group would make Eagle shares far more attractive to potential investors.’

Why does John Textor want to buy Everton?

Some might be somewhat baffled that, despite all we have learned about Everton and its mounting debt, that John Textor is so intent on still buying the club.

However, months before he even made his actual move to assume control, he had already announced why the Toffees are so valuable.

He noted: ‘Everton represents the best of English football: the struggles, the glory, the want. I love that it’s out of London. Everybody should want to buy Everton right now.

‘That kind of club is what I’m referring to, where the risk and the reward of your relationship and community is so great and you could come in, make promises and keep them. How great would it be to take one of these great English clubs back to sort of glory?’

With plenty of money and an ever-expanding empire of football clubs, it’s clear why Textor wants to buy his way into the Premier League.

Hopefully, his plans are more further-reaching than just profit-based.
