This January promises to be an intriguing one for Everton, where it feels like anything really could happen.
If they were to wade in and spend freely under the fresh leadership of Dan Friedkin, many would accept it as the new owner trying to make the team their own.
However, equally so, if they were to endure a reserved month, maybe offloading one or two and mildly replacing them, that too would make sense.
After all, despite the steady and uncompromising transfer plan that Kevin Thelwell has enforced over the last two years, it always feels like they are never far away from the Premier League‘s scrutiny and another financial punishment.
With that in mind, it could actually be the outgoings that outweigh any incomings in January.
Fresh update on Beto’s Everton future emerges
Touching on this topic brings about the debate over who Everton could actually afford to lose.
After all, theirs is not a large squad, and Everton manager Sean Dyche has already fallen foul of their lack of depth amidst an early-season injury crisis.

Having battled through to drag them to 16th at the moment, there is hope that he will still steer them to safety.
However, if he has to sell someone, fingers are currently pointing towards the strikers.
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin refusing to sign a new Everton contract, and Juventus interested in Beto, it’s easy to see why they are the most likely to leave.
And now, speaking exclusively to Everton.News, journalist Graeme Bailey has provided a fresh update on the latter: ‘I’m told that Everton would consider Beto’s exit in January if there was interest, they hope to have Armando Broja firing by the New Year so there may be room to move him out.’
How has Beto’s Everton career gone so far?
It’s fair to say that, since moving to Goodison Park in 2023, things have not gone to plan for Beto.
Although, some might argue that he has seldom been given the chance to achieve much at all.
After all, it quickly became clear that, despite his large but heavily-delayed price tag, he was to be nothing more than an understudy to Calvert-Lewin.
As such, the 26-year-old made just nine Premier League starts last season, scoring three times despite winning the match with his EFL Cup debut in late August.

This season has started off very much the same as the last, reduced to brief and uninspiring cameos from the bench.
Beto is certainly one expendable asset within Everton’s squad, but it then leaves Dyche heavily reliant on Calvert-Lewin, a man who has lacked in form and fitness for years now.
