Everton’s takeover saga has now stalled with Farhad Moshiri still at the helm leading into the new season.

It has been a real rollercoaster of a ride for Everton fans over recent weeks when it comes to who could potentially become the club’s new owner.

Farhad Moshiri must have thought he would be out of his tenure at Goodison Park by now but it looks like he will be sticking around for a little while longer.

Most recently, The Friedkin Group’s proposed interest fell flat which has left the Blues heading into the 2024/25 campaign the same as they left the previous season.

With no resolution in sight, Moshiri has now been slammed by a journalist for something he done which was just not right in trying to sell on Everton.

Farhad Moshiri slammed for takeover move at Everton

The takeover situation at Goodison has turned out to be a real mess with the Toffees no further forward in finding their potential next owner.

Everton entered months of talks with the 777 Partners which, ultimately, saw their proposal fall flat at the beginning of the summer.

Months and months of exclusivity provided to the 777 Group fell completely flat on its face and cost both the club and Moshiri a lot of wasted time.

Speaking on The Guardian’s Football Weekly podcast, journalist Philippe Auclair has slammed the Everton owner for ever providing 777 Partners the time of day.

“I think it was insane from the beginning. So it was a good thing that the club finally decided to do away with this particular relationship,” he said.

“But the relationship should never have been started in the beginning, because of all the red flags, there were more red flags around 777 than there are red flags when Charles Leclerc wins a race for Ferrari. So it was insane.”

“But to carry on with the relationship for so long, when there were other offers. And then to find your club now, having to find an owner but on top of that, having added colossal amounts of money in debt. All of this, you know, for the stadium, but also for simply paying the wages that I’m afraid is unforgivable.”

What is the latest in Everton’s takeover situation?

Well, Everton now find themselves back at square one when it comes to finding the next owner for the football club.

The Premier League season is now just a matter of two weeks away from kicking off and Everton are no better off than they were at the end of last season.

But there is a takeover offer on the table for Everton, according to Kieran Maguire.

“There is an offer of around about £400m from somebody in London, but that’s for everything. And if it’s £400m for a club that’s got debts of £600m those sums don’t add up,” he said.

So this does not exactly appear to be the most realistic of offers and Everton fans are unlikely to build up much excitement over what Maguire has had to say on the matter.
