Everton’s season hinges on a number of things that, at this moment in time, are largely out of their control.
It is this frustrating and disorderly nature which might frustrate some fans, who are still waiting on the outcome of their ongoing takeover, a few contract disputes and the future of their manager too.
One of the outstanding storylines of the season could be set to reach its conclusion now though, with one outlet making a bold claim.
Juventus planning January raid of Everton
The report, seeking to detail Juventus’ January plans, interestingly involves Everton.
That’s at least what’s being stated by Corriere dello Sport, who write that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is in their eyeline given his precarious future at Goodison Park.
The £100k-a-week striker joined the Toffees back in 2016, yet has a contract due to expire this summer.

Everton want to sign Calvert-Lewin down to a new contract, but the 27-year-old remains coy on his future.
Well, Juventus could throw a spanner in the works, with the allure of the Champions League hard to deny.
The report reads: ‘While the most urgent issue imposes a serious reflection on the arrival of a loan defender in January to replace the in-forced Bremer (he is called Skriniar, also given the good relations with the PSG), the attack remains the priority for the summer.
‘In a few months the agreement between Calvert-Lewin and Everton will also expire: the Englishman, 28 years old in March, has been playing for the Liverpool club since 2016 and at this moment he would seem oriented towards a new adventure.’
Should Everton sell Dominic Calvert-Lewin in January?
Unfortunately for Everton, in this particular instance, they are the ones completely without power.
Only Calvert-Lewin can control where his future lies, and whilst Dan Friedkin will likely send him a tempting offer, there’s no more they can do.
So, in an effort to avoid losing him for free, the Toffees simply might have to sell in January.
It would mark a huge blow for Everton manager Sean Dyche though, who is heavily reliant on the marksman.
Always preferring Calvert-Lewin to Beto when possible, even when he is out of goalscoring form he remains a regular starter.

So, if Everton are to sacrifice him in the coming transfer window, it must be with a replacement in mind.
Hopefully, that’s exactly what Kevin Thelwell is planning.
