John Textor remains the frontrunner to buy Everton, even if he has been met with some competition in recent weeks.

After all, his desperation to own a Premier League club has been well-documented, as has his desire to take a sleeping giant like the Toffees and turn them into a success once again.

Fortunately, his efforts to acquire the club have been handed a recent boost, as Kieran Maguire details.

Seeking to offer a fresh update on John Textor’s Everton takeover, this football finance expert has provided the following statement just days after Dan Friedkin re-entered the battle to buy Everton.

Now very much a two-horse race between a couple of American businessmen, questions over the former’s potential exclusivity agreement have been mooted for some time now, even after he emerged on Sky Sports to reaffirm his interest.

Well, Maguire has now emerged with this update, both offering a potentially huge swing in Textor’s favour, should he be able to reign in his new partner.

He told The Price of Football podcast: ‘He’s been talking to business partners, one of which is called Aliya Capital who are ridiculously wealthy. They are seriously wealthy, but why would they be interested in buying Everton?

‘It turns out that he’s met somebody from Aliya Partners in Brazil and perhaps he thinks there’s a relationship there.

‘I wouldn’t even say that it’s two steps forward and one step back, it’s one step forward and one step back in regards to Textor.’

Founded as an investment advisor, this company specialises in risk management, value investing and diversification, serving clients from within the USA.

Having been established in 2020, it has quickly grown into one of the leaders in providing fee-based investment advice and gained further notoriety as it joined Elon Musk in his $44bn acquisition of Twitter.

Aliya Capital Partners manage more than $1bn £(760m) in assets, to add some scale to their financial pull, and they will mesh well with Textor’s billions too.

Together, they could turn Everton into a superpower, but it has already been proven once before that finances alone cannot fix this club.
