The John Textor ‘breakthrough’ that Dan Freidkin could copy in his Everton takeover

Everton’s takeover saga is one that continues to rumble on, but at last we are seeing some progress it seems.

After all, following months of John Textor‘s feigned interest, commencing negotiations with Farhad Moshiri certainly marked a step in the right direction.

Then, ironically enough, Dan Friedkin re-entered the race to buy Everton, throwing a further spanner into the works.

Competition can only be a good thing, but for now, it’s the latter of the two Americans who has the upper hand given Textor’s inability to sell his Crystal Palace stake.

However, this fresh update details exactly how and why Friedkin is back involved with Everton.

The latest on Dan Friedkin’s Everton takeover

Speaking exclusively to Everton.News, we enlisted journalist Graeme Bailey to offer the latest on this saga.

A vocal advocate for Dan Friedkin, highlighting him as the Toffees’ top takeover suitor way before he entered into his exclusivity agreement, the reporter now seems to think that the main hurdle that saw him walk away could have just been broken down.

That is, if Textor has found the solution, which might explain why his compatriot has returned to the table to steal Everton at the last minute.

Bailey claims: ‘The Friedkin Group are well aware of the situation. From what I’m told, The Friedkin Group think a resolution can be made with this A-Cap loan and 777.

‘I think Textor might have made a breakthrough with that which is what has appealed to Friedkin again. There’s obviously something happened with that A-Cap 777 loan… that’s what stopped it in the first place.

‘Obviously Textor thinks there’s a way around that and my belief is that’s why The Friedkin Group are back around.

‘If that hurdle can be overcome then it would be a shootout between the interested parties.’

Sean Dyche’s Everton job could hang in the balance

Should the jet-flying businessman get in charge, he has already shown his ruthless streak this season with AS Roma, and it should leave Sean Dyche frightened.

After all, the willingness with which Friedkin sacked Roma manager Danielle De Rossi so early in the season is the kind of quick action that many Evertonians might demand occur to their current boss.

With just one win from six games across all competitions, and that victory coming in a now-meaningless Carabao Cup match given their exit on Tuesday night, they are propping up the Premier League and being ridiculed by all.

It’s worth remembering that this time next year the Toffees should be in their shiny brand-new stadium on the waterfront. It surely can’t play host to Championship football in its maiden year.

So, should Friedkin fast-track his takeover, as only he can with Textor still tied up in Crystal Palace, it might spell the end for Dyche if this week’s actions are anything to go by.
