Everton are expected to appoint Angus Kinnear as their new CEO at the end of the season.

The Toffees will enter a period of transition following the Friedkin Group’s successful takeover in December, and the appointment of a new CEO has been top of the agenda.

And Kinnear, CEO of Leeds United since 2017, appears to be the new US owner’s preferred choice despite also considering Fulham’s Alistair Mackintosh and former Arsenal executive Vinai Venkatesham.

In light of the news, the majority of Leeds United fans don’t appear too upset about Kinnear’s expected departure.

Leeds fans react to Angus Kinnear becoming Everton CEO news

Kinnear, who played a key part in Everton’s FFP points deduction, is set to finish the season with Leeds United, but according to the Daily Mail, will then take up his new role with in Merseyside from the summer.

One supporter sarcastically took to X, formerly Twitter, and said: “Everton in the championship soon then.”

Another also suggested the Whites won’t miss the 47-year-old.

A third fan eluded to Kinnear being the last remaining executive of the club’s old regime.

“Good, last of the three rats gone,” the fan said.

Another Leeds supporter pleaded with the Leeds United owners to let on-loan winger Jack Harrison also join the Toffees permanently.

A fifth fan added: “Most fans will be happy with this, nice guy, held his hands up when he make mistakes but I am surprised he lasted this long under the new owners.”

Leeds hoping to emulate Everton

Not only do Leeds United want to share top-flight status with Everton, they’re also aiming to replicate the standards of their facilities.

The Whites’ recent stadium expansion plans, which they posted on the official Leeds website, revealed their hopes of putting Elland Road on par with Everton’s new £800 million Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium — their new home from next season after deciding to leave Goodison Park.

Hoping to take Elland Road’s seating capacity from just under 38,000 to 53,000, Leeds United have lofty ambitions of becoming a club capable of boasting a UEFA Category 4 stadium — just like Everton.

While Leeds United supporters don’t appear bothered by Kinnear’s suspected exit, Everton’s pathway to success obviously includes the 47-year-old, and with the Whites using the Toffees as a blueprint for success off the pitch, it’d be fair to assume The 49ers Enterprises feels differently.
