After a potential switch from Leeds United, Angus Kinnear could become the new Everton CEO.
Time will tell whether the Friedkin Group piece a deal together for the Leeds executive, but the chances are looking likely.
Interim CEO Colin Chong has been in place since the summer of 2023, but the Friedkins have opened talks with Kinnear.
It will no doubt take a lot to move Kinnear away from his post in Yorkshire after eight years but Leeds fans have welcomed Kinnear’s exit, which may not bode well for Everton supporters.
But Everton might have found their own reason why after what Kinnear did in 2023.

Everton should be wary of Angus Kinnear after Leeds United choice
Kinnear isn’t the finished article in terms of a set-in-stone move, as Everton are keen on Crystal Palace’s Dougie Freeman which would make for an even more extravagant appointment.
But Kinnear is looking like a strong possibility, and after what the Leeds chief did in 2023, some Toffees fans might regret wanting this move.
Back near the start of the 23/24 season, Everton found themselves in a sticky patch with a point deduction in line to be handed to the club.
Ten points was the verdict (later got changed to six) and then of course a further two, but the original 10 points involved Kinnear, and not in a good way.
According to the Athletic, the Leeds CEO along with Burnley chairman Alan Pace signed a letter that kicked off the investigation for Everton to be deducted said points.
Bare in mind Burnley and Leeds themselves were fighting relegation with Everton a few seasons beforehand, which isn’t a good look at all for Kinnear.
Potential worry for Everton with Kinnear set to make big decisions
It’s certainly a risk appointing Kinnear after the Friedkins have started so well in their tightly knit group.
Although Kevin Thelwell has had his dire moments at the club, Thelwell pulled a blinder with Carlos Alcaraz’s deal showing he’s not backing down from his position.
Kinnear will have a different position than Thelwell but the point still stands, everything has gone fairly smoothly with the current board so bringing in Kinnear would throw a spanner in the works.
Even though he’s got bags of experience, Kinnear’s desire to give Everton the deduction still affects the club to this day, which may leave Evertonians questioning his arrival.
