Since David Moyes replaced Sean Dyche at the start of the year, Everton have been on an upward trajectory.

Everton were staring down the barrel of a potential relegation to the Championship under Dyche, but Moyes came in and steered the club to safety with relative ease in the end.

Now, Moyes wants to return the Toffees to Europe, and they’re well-placed to achieve that feat this season.

Do Everton have what it takes to make it back to Europe…

“I really hope I can earn the opportunity to get back into European football here at Everton.”

Leon Osman has recently been speaking to some of the Toffees’ first-teamers and gained some interesting intel on the training sessions that go on at Finch Farm.

Leon Osman shares what he’s heard about Everton training sessions at Finch Farm

Speaking on the Athletic FC podcast, former Everton midfielder Leon Osman revealed that expectations have ‘gone through the roof’ at Finch Farm.

“It’s not just a click of the fingers, it’s work on the training pitch, it’s work with the squad, it’s getting that feel back within the football club,” Osman explained.

“The demands of the fans, the demands of each other every single day on the training pitch, speaking to some of the players, those levels have gone through the roof in terms of expectation on each other.”

Back in April, Jordan Pickford spoke about how high Moyes’ expectations are: “The gaffer set the standards high and we demand that from each other ourselves.

“On the training pitch, you want to win every day in training and the manager drives that. Then it’s about us driving ourselves on as well.

“It filters through the team, that’s what we want. It’s good to be disappointed against someone like City because that’s the standards we set now.”

Everton need to sign a striker to help David Moyes

If Everton are to realise their ambitions and qualify for Europe, the Friedkin Group will have to back Moyes in the January transfer window.

Thierno Barry and Beto have scored just two Premier League goals between them this season, so clearly a striker is needed.

The Toffees are exploring a deal to sign Artem Dovbyk from the Friedkin-owned AS Roma, so that should be a very doable deal.

Troy Parrott has also been scouted by Moyes and his recruitment staff, with AZ Alkmaar demanding around £31m to sanction his sale.

Richarlison is another one being linked to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, although that transfer would more than likely be a loan.
