Liverpool could be about to hand Calum Scanlon his debut against Everton this weekend.
That’s according to Liverpool World, who have reported that the Reds’ injury problems could award Scanlon with a place on the bench in the Merseyside derby.
Andy Robertson is set to spend the rest of the year on the sidelines after dislocating his shoulder whilst on international duty with Scotland. Kostas Tsimikas is in line to take his place against the Toffees, with the Greek defender making only one substitute appearance in the Premier League this season.

Luke Chambers was on the bench for Liverpool in their 1-1 draw against Brighton prior to the international break, however the England youth international reportedly rolled his ankle whilst away with the England U-20 squad and hasn’t been in training. Meanwhile, Conor Bradley is also unavailable due to injury.
With the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic and Curtis Jones all out, Jurgen Klopp could be forced to hand Scanlon a chance.
The 18-year-old moved to Merseyside from Birmingham City for only £500,000 last year and featured during their pre-season schedule, however he has so far only played for their U-21 side this term.
Klopp will hope that he doesn’t have to give Scanlon his debut in such a big game, while Everton will surely have a very good game plan of how to penetrate Liverpool’s defence on Saturday.
Tsimikas and Scanlon in – do Everton have a chance against Liverpool?
Andy Robertson has been one of their best players for years now, and Kostas Tsimikas is nowhere near the exceptional standard of the Scot.
With Jack Harrison enjoying a promising start to life at Everton, there is no doubt that the winger will be causing him all sorts of problems.

The Toffees are unsurprisingly huge underdogs going into the Merseyside derby, but Robertson’s absence gives them a massive boost in their bid to leave with at least a point.
Liverpool’s struggles early on in matches has been made very clear, so Everton need to look to break that left side of defence down and snatch an early goal.
It’s definitely easier said than done, but we definitely have the possibility of an upset on the cards!
