It has emerged that Everton actually tried to sign a now Liverpool star when he was a youngster.
Speaking on The Overlap, Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has lifted the lid on a little-known transfer story from well over a decade ago.
When Robertson was plying his trade up in Scotland with Dundee United, Everton were showing a strong interest in landing his signature.

Roberto Martinez was the Toffees boss at the time and was looking to sign a back-up for Leighton Baines.
However, the now Reds defender revealed that he wasn’t willing to leave Dundee at that time.
Andy Robertson reveals Everton tried to sign him
Robertson has explained that Martinez watched him live when he was at Dundee, but he decided it wasn’t the right time to leave Scotland.
“I think in the January, Roberto Martinez tried to sign me for Everton and he came up and watched me,” the Liverpool star stated.
“Story could have been very different. I don’t think I would have been sat in this cafe.
“And that never happened. And then, in the summer, I knew I would have options, but I wasn’t ready to leave Dundee United.”

Robertson ultimately left at the end of the season, joining Hull City in a deal worth just £2.85m, which ended up being a bargain.
After three impressive years with the Tigers, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp came calling and he went on to become one of the best full-backs in Europe.
