David Moyes could face a number of former Everton managers next season.
Frank Lampard is back in the Premier League with Coventry, while Sean Dyche is being linked to Crystal Palace in case their move for Andoni Iraola collapses.
However, another meeting with Marco Silva no longer appears to be on the table next season, as the former Everton boss is close to taking over from Jose Mourinho at Benfica.
Does Sean Dyche get enough credit for his spell at Everton? 🤔
He worked under difficult financial circumstances 😫
Marco Silva set for Benfica
Portuguese news outlet A Bola now claim that Silva has rejected the chance to replace Vitor Pereira at Nottingham Forest – and has also snubbed a new deal at Fulham – in favour of joining Benfica.
Mourinho is set to return to Real Madrid this summer, and Benfica’s talks with the former Everton boss are said to be advancing quickly.
Silva – who Real Madrid spoke to recently – is said to be keen on taking over at Benfica, and an announcement is set to be made once the man born in Lisbon sees out the last two games of this Premier League season with Fulham.
It represents an impressive turnaround from the 48-year-old since he was sacked by Everton in December 2019 after just 18 months in charge.
Silva – who Chelsea also admire – has done well to rebuild his reputation after that setback, and it speaks volumes that he is now considered capable of replacing one of the greatest managers ever in Mourinho.
There could yet be further departures from Fulham which matter to Everton.
Harry Wilson is a target and is set to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season, although Everton face competition from Aston Villa for the Wales international.
Would this put you off bringing Harry Wilson to Everton this summer? 😬
He's been quality this season too… 😫
Everton also like Raul Jimenez and could sign the Mexico international on a free transfer, should Fulham fail to agree a new deal with the 35-year-old.
