Manchester United fans feel their club may have made a massive mistake after watching Everton on Monday night.

For Everton fans, the game against West Ham will have frustrated many as another game went by without a victory.

David Moyes has certainly already discovered some issues on Merseyside in the opening weeks of the new season.

Goals have been hard to come by, with Duncan Ferguson admitting Everton need a better striker if they are to get to where they want to be.

However, there have been a lot of bright sparks for the Toffees this season.

Jack Grealish has shone for Everton since he made the loan move from Manchester City over the summer.

But there is one player from the Everton side who a lot of Manchester United fans have been blown away with recently.

Midfielder James Garner has excelled for Everton in the opening stages of the 2025/26 campaign.

Garner has played in both midfield and at left-back under Moyes, where he provided an impressive assist for Michael Kane on Monday night.

Having signed for the Blues from Manchester United back in 2022, some of their fans seem to feel the Red Devils may have made a big mistake.

Taking to social media, one fan wrote: ‘Watching the Everton game, and I can’t help but think we made another HUGE mistake letting James Garner go’. Whilst another added: ‘Just add him to the list’.

Everton are keen to secure Garner to a new contract over the coming months.

It seems one fan has felt this way for a while, saying: ‘You are just realising?’ With another fan claiming: ‘Keeping Garner would have meant we wouldn’t have wasted £60m BRITISH POUNDS on Ugarte.’

Everton fans wouldn’t disagree with this United fan, who said: ‘One thing I guarantee he improves your best eleven right now.’

With United struggling for form one fan truly believes Garner should still be playing at Old Trafford, they said: ‘Loved him. It should have been him and Mainoo in the midfield 2 right now, that was the future’.

What David Moyes has said about Garner

Having made a strong start to the campaign, Moyes has urged England to call-up Garner ahead of their latest international break.

The midfielder has gone under the radar this season with some of his performances, which have showcased his versatility.

Even Garner has told Thomas Tuchel he wants an England call-up on Friday ahead of their games against Wales and Latvia.

“I thought Idrissa and James were fantastic. We want to keep it fresh. We want them all to be good,” said Moyes last month.

“I think Jimmy’s form at the moment is up there with some of the best I’ve seen around the country at the moment. So, let’s hope that’s recognised.”
