Everton fans are set to see a former Toffees manager leave these shores imminently as Marco Silva prepares to replace Jose Mourinho at Benfica.
The man born in Lisbon has agreed to take over at Benfica after Real Madrid opted to bring Mourinho back to the Santiago Bernabeu.
It leaves Fulham without a manager, and in our view, may also see the Cottagers fail to follow through with the £31m deal to sign Ricardo Pepi – potentially leaving the door open for Everton after links to the United States international.
Everton need a transfer budget of at least _________ this summer
Fill in the blank…
Everton could now get a second shot at signing Ricardo Pepi
Fabrizio Romano revealed in March that Fulham had agreed an early £31m deal to sign Pepi from PSV Eindhoven – with the deal set to become official once the season ended.
However, the move stalled due to disagreements over medical examinations – according to Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink – and the impending departure of Silva now has the potential to see the deal called off entirely.
PSV Eindhoven have already agreed to sell Pepi and the £31m fee has been heavily documented, so given the widespread uncertainty at Craven Cottage, Everton would seemingly have an easy route to hijacking this deal if The Friedkin Group remain interested in signing the 23-year-old.
The PSV Eindhoven No.9 has been in fantastic form this season, netting 19 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions, including strikes against Napoli and Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.
Some Everton fans want Thierno Barry to be sold – while Beto has blown hot and cold this season despite netting a respectable nine goals in 36 Premier League appearances.
Where does Thierno Barry go from here? This Everton fan has had ENOUGH! 😡
Second week in a row fans have been left furious
So, Moyes could certainly use a fresh face to shake up his striker department, and Silva’s move to Benfica may now present Everton with an opportunity to bring Pepi to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
