Everton extended their winless run in the Premier League to eleven matches after Manchester United ran out 2-0 victors on Saturday afternoon.
Once again, Sean Dyche’s side were left to rue a lack of cutting edge in the final third despite dominating extensive periods of the game.
Penalties from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford were enough for Erik Ten Hag’s men to keep their Champions League hopes alive.

Rashford has since sent a message after one of Everton’s players posted an Instagram after the game.

After the loss, Ashley Young posted a message to the Goodison Park faithful.
“Not the result we wanted. Take the positives, and we go again. Thanks for such a great reception,” he wrote.

Rashford replied with a red love heart emoji. Young, who is on £43,000-a-week at Goodison Park, featured 261 times during nine years at Old Trafford.
It’s safe to say those glory years are a distant memory, with the 38-year-old now focused on dragging Everton away from the bottom three.
Considering his age, the versatile defender has featured a considerable amount under Dyche and is well thought of.
It’s the age-old cliche, but his experience could be significant should Everton find themselves in hot water during the latter stages of the season.

At the moment, it’s a likelihood that is more than possible. The Toffees’ winless run must be rectified quickly, particularly with another charge looming over Goodison Park.
The Premier League are believed to be targeting the middle of next month as a date for their latest verdict to be announced.
Everton and Nottingham Forest have both been charged with breaches of the league’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, which could lead to points deductions.
There has even been talk of both teams being relegated after the season has ended, with appeals needing to be ratified by the AGM, which occurs five days after the end of the campaign.
