Match of the Day pundits completely disagree with Sean Dyche over Everton talking point

Everton weren’t at the races against Southampton which resulted in the first win of the season for the home side, and Micah Richards and Joe Hart couldn’t quite understand one of Sean Dyche’s excuses.

Sean Dyche was pretty pleased with his side’s performance against Southampton, as they dominated the shot count and tried to play on the counter.

However, that tactic only works if you put your chances away, and that was something Everton failed to do as Southampton’s 66% possession finally paid off.

To make matters worse, Iliman Ndiaye came off around the 60th minute mark with an injury, and Dyche later explained that the substitution was a precaution.

Interestingly, there was one incident in the game involving Beto and Jan Bednarek, where the former was taken down just outside the box, with Dyche believing it was a clear red card.

But, Micah Richards and Joe Hart have other ideas.

The potential red card incident involving Beto

Beto managed to beat his man down the left hand-side of the pitch for Everton and was charging towards goal, only to be brought down by Jan Bednarek.

The referee gave a yellow card and deemed that there was cover from another Southampton defender coming over, but Sean Dyche didn’t agree as he felt it was a red card (as per Liverpool Echo).

Micah Richards and Joe Hart have now given their thoughts on the incident.

Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day, both Richards and Hart believed that a yellow card was the right call to make from the referee with someone covering.

Richards said.

“Yeah I understand why he’s not happy, but I think there’s cover round. I think it’s Harwood-Bellis there, I mean there’s a defender there, yellow card is the right decision.”

Hart replied.

“Yeah I agree. I think Harwood-Bellis will get across.”

Everton getting dragged back into trouble

Wins for Southampton and a point for Wolves, Ipswich and Crystal Palace has meant that all the teams towards the bottom gained ground on the Toffees.

Everton seemed like they had turned a corner under Sean Dyche, but the levels have dropped over the last two games, and it’s slightly concerning.

Sean Dyche’s lack of trust in anyone not named Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Michael Keane is a worry, as Beto has had to feed off scraps and Jarrad Branthwaite has barely played recently.

It’s about time he started to make some changes, as it could get ugly.
