Sean Dyche has now won his last two games as Everton boss after criticism for the start to the season, and Michael Keane has played a big part in those wins.

It was all looking a bit gloomy after the first five games of the Premier League season, but the outlook has since changed around Everton with things finally clicking into place.

Michael Keane didn’t enjoy the best start to the season, we can all agree. He was labelled a ‘nervous wreck’ after his display against Bournemouth and was even dropped for the Crystal Palace clash.

However, he’s turned things around for the Toffees, putting in two brilliant performances on the bounce.

Many Everton fans even said that Keane was better than James Tarkowski against Newcastle.

Interestingly, it was his performance against Ipswich that has improved his stats even more, pushing him ahead of Erling Haaland in two key areas.

Michael Keane outshining Manchester City’s Erling Haaland in two areas

Erling Haaland is arguably the best striker on the planet at this moment in times, and he seems to be breaking goalscoring records every game at Manchester City.

However, there are two stats this season that Keane betters him in.

According to Footystats, Michael Keane has a higher shot conversion rate and shots per goals scored than Haaland in the Premier League this season.

The Manchester City striker averages three shots per goal scored and a 33% shot conversion rate, whilst Keane averages two shots per goal scored and a 50% shot conversion rate.

Michael Keane a secret striker?

Of course, Erling Haaland takes a lot more shots than Michael Keane, but he’s showing more of a deadly touch when chances present themselves this season.

Interestingly, Dwight McNeil spoke out about how good Keane is at shooting in training and even claimed he could be a striker if he wanted.

Keane even came out himself and talked about how he feels he’s one of the best finishers at the club, and the stats certainly show that.

Dyche will probably never start Keane as a striker, but he’s already leaned on him a couple of times when Everton are chasing the game at the end by chucking him up top.
