Anthony Gordon left Everton for Newcastle United in January 2023, which was a controversial transfer at the time.
Anthony Gordon left mid-season when Everton were fighting for their lives down at the bottom of the Premier League table, so the fans gave him a lot of stick for jumping ship.
Gordon received a fierce welcome to the Hill Dickinson Stadium last month, with Toffees supporters booing the Newcastle winger.
Remarkably, despite a productive career on Tyneside, some Newcastle fans are now turning on Gordon as well.
They all said the same thing about the former Everton star after the 1-0 defeat to rivals Sunderland on Sunday afternoon.

Newcastle fans want Anthony Gordon dropped and sold
After the Sunderland defeat, Newcastle fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and ripped into Gordon’s performance.
“Gordon should no longer be starting for us in the Prem, no assists this season and not producing in the league,” @KevinIrwin11 explained.
“Don’t start Gordon again. F****** crap,” @LiamWatson11 admitted.
@PGJohnson77 commented: “Gordon is becoming the player we all thought he was at Everton. A t***.”
@Toon00777 said: “Anthony Elanga and Anthony Gordon need to hang their heads in shame. Absolutely shocking performances.”
“Elanga and Gordon should never pull a shirt on again,” @skintersroyal noted.
@dylxo94 posted: “Replace Elanga and Gordon in the January window.”
Anthony Gordon’s abysmal stats vs Sunderland
Gordon was actually dragged off before the hour mark by Eddie Howe, with Harvey Barnes replacing the England international.
His Sofascore statistics were abysmal, as he actually gave the ball away a whopping nine times at the Stadium of Light.
- 59 minutes
- 22 touches
- 58% pass completion
- 0 shots
- 9 possession lost
Some Newcastle fans would be open to selling Gordon to Liverpool if they were to reignite their interest in the 24-year-old.
Although, based on his current form, that transfer now seems very unlikely and certainly not in the January transfer window.
