Asmir Begovic has discussed what will happen next for him after leaving Everton.

Speaking to talkSPORT, the goalkeeper revealed that there has been ‘conversations’ over his next move.

Begovic moved to Goodison Park on a free transfer in 2021 and spent the past two years as a back-up to Jordan Pickford, making only four appearances in the Premier League.

Everton confirmed earlier this month that they had offered Begovic a new contract, however he turned it down in favour of regular first team football elsewhere.

He said: “Still very much a free agent. I guess it’s that time of year; lots of rumours, lots of stories, everything is going around but it’s all good fun.

“The next two weeks will become a little bit clearer.

“There have definitely been some conversations with certain people, certain clubs and I think in the next few weeks they’re going to heat up as June goes on into July and pre-season – we’ll see what happens.”

The Telegraph reported that Luton Town were in talks to sign Begovic following their return to the Premier League, however he currently remains a free agent.

Who could Everton replace Asmir Begovic with?

While Everton’s main focus will be keeping hold of Jordan Pickford, they will also have to consider who to bring in as his back-up.

The Toffees won’t want to splash out on Asmir Begovic’s replacement and could instead turn to a former player in Joel Robles.

The Sun previously reported that the Merseyside club are interested in re-signing the Spaniard, who spent five years at Goodison Park.

Robles could be a safe option for Everton, who is available for free after leaving Leeds United.

The Toffees have also been linked with Sam Johnstone, although the Crystal Palace goalkeeper would be eager to challenge Pickford for his first choice spot rather than warm the bench.
