Tim Sherwood has slammed claims that ‘form goes out the window’ during the Merseyside derby.

Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, the former manager has suggested that Everton would need a ‘load of luck’ to get a result against Liverpool tomorrow

Everton will be desperate to replicate their shock 2-0 win at Anfield from 2021 as they take the short trip to the home of the Reds tomorrow afternoon.

The Toffees head into the game off the back of a 3-0 hammering of Bournemouth, while Liverpool have failed to win either of their last two games in the Premier League.

Despite Everton’s improved form and Liverpool’s concerning injury list, Sherwood is adamant there is no competition between the two clubs.

Speaking to Sam Allardyce on his podcast, Sherwood said: “I mean, seriously, at the moment we’ve had one derby this year and that’s been the Tottenham-Arsenal game.

“I think now, this should not be competitive, this football match. They’ve picked up a little bit more confidence at Everton. Everyone says in these games that form goes out the window – that’s a load of nonsense.

“If Liverpool play well, they’ll win the football match. If everything goes right for Everton, they’ve possibly got a chance, but they’d need the referee to be on their side, they’d need a load of luck for them to get a result.”

Tim Sherwood isn’t giving Everton enough credit

Given Liverpool’s struggles in defence over the last year or so, it seems like Tim Sherwood is being a bit harsh on Everton.

The Reds have often conceded early on so far this season and are heading into the game without one of their key defenders in Andy Robertson.

Granted, Liverpool are the favourites and will probably dominate most of the game, but we can’t write Everton off to earn themselves a couple of big chances.
